South East Melbourne’s Mitch Creek has experienced a flying start in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional playoffs, with his Mets de Guaynabo side taking a 1-0 series lead over Arecibo.

Creek’s Mets finished the regular season with a 21-15 record, after beginning the campaign with a 1-5 record. Their second-place finish in the competition’s Group B has seen them draw Arecibo in the first round of the post-season – who finished third in Group A.

Creek top-scored for his side in the 14-point win. He dropped 28 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals in a player of the game performance.

Unsigned Phoenix guard Gary Browne scored 12 points in the win, while former NBA All-Star Demarcus Cousins added 18 points and nine rebounds.

Creek has so far appeared in 25 games for Mets after overcoming a shoulder injury mid-season.

He is currently averaging 20 points on 55 per cent shooting (47.3 per cent from three), 6.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game in the BSN.
