Rising star Owen Foxwell has today capped a breakout season with the inaugural Clubman Award.

Foxwell, who extended his contract for a further two years in January, was selected for his conduct both on and off the court, with the award given to the player most exemplifying the team’s values.

The 21-year-old is a fan favourite for the Phoenix faithful, shown by the raucous reception he received when his contract extension was announced at the State Basketball Centre this year.

Foxwell continued to mark his imprint on the team, logging career highs in minutes, points, rebounds and assists this season, further highlighting his rapid growth in the NBL.

Phoenix interim CEO Anoop Singh congratulated Foxwell on his contributions to the club in what was his fourth year with the Phoenix.

“Owen has really shown great character as a Phoenix person and represents the club with pride and aplomb,” Singh said.

“You just need to look at how many ‘Foxy’ signs there are in the crowd, and the long lines at his signing station to realise how beloved he is to the Heartland.

“He's become a dependable teammate on the court, and is a leader off it, which is why he was included in the leadership group for the first time this season.”

Foxwell is currently playing with the Taranaki Airs in the NZNBL before returning to the Phoenix in July for the NBL26 campaign.
