The players will wear the limited edition jersey that features the character Green Lantern, bringing the hero to life through the players during the DC Multiverse round.
The Phoenix will don their Green Lantern jerseys when they take on the Kings in round 10 in Sydney on Sunday, December 10, before they unleash it in their regional game in Gippsland at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium, against the Illawarra Hawks in round 11 on Saturday, December 16.
Who is the Green Lantern?
The Green Lantern is the perfect fit for the Phoenix. As the superhero wields the power ring, the Phoenix is on a quest for their maiden championship rings.
The Green Lantern featured on the Phoenix's jersey is in the formation of John Stewart, the third human to every wield the Green Lantern ring.
John Stewarts leadership and tactical brilliance are legendary throughout every galaxy sector.
Earth has produced many fine members of the Green Lantern Corps but among its finest stands U.S. Marine Corps veteran John Stewart. Although he was initially chosen by the Guardians of the Universe as the alternate Lantern, called in to wear the power ring whenever Hal Jordan (original Green Lantern) was incapacitated, Stewart has grown to become a leader of the Green Lantern Corps.
The powers the Green Lantern inhabits include hard light constructs, instant weaponry, force fields, flight, durability, and alien technology.
